Go Buckeyes!

O-H...I-O
Gavin's shirt says "I'm too cute to be a Michigan fan!"
(and Jason's shirt is self explanatory - hehe)

Hockey

Friday we had tickets to see the Capitals Hockey game at 5pm.  Jason and I found hockey sticks for $2 at Toys R Us the night before so we got those to get Gavin excited about hockey!  After playing on his new bike for awhile we got out the hockey sticks and had a fun game in the yard.  He kept calling them golf clubs!

Then it was game time!  We took off to the Verizon Center in downtown DC and got great parking in the garage across the street.  It was a packed stadium - all seats were sold out.  Our seats were almost to the top, but were center rink and were actually really great!  Gavin was nervous for the first few minutes when all the loud sirens went off to start the game, but then he relaxed and had a great time.  He would clap and yell "Go Caps Go!"  We stayed for the entire game and were pretty nervous about the traffic as we left.  Somehow we barely came across any.  You could tell these parking attendants knew what they were doing.  Minus the beyond the top high prices for drinks/food, it was a really great night.  Gavin is now the proud owner of a Capitals jersey and it is TOO cute!

They won 6-0... we picked a great game to attend!  #28 got a hat trick.  Everyone was throwing their hats out on the ice.  Jason asked Gavin if he wanted to throw his Yankee hat on the ice but Gavin wasn't having that!

Excuse some of the SUPER close up photos of us... I had the 50mm lens on the camera and there was no way to back up enough to get the "perfect shot" - like I said, that stadium was PACKED!

Everytime the sirens went off Gavin would get nervous and start chewing on his fingers again.

The New Bike!

Anyone that knows Jason well, knows that he can not wait to give gifts!  He was too excited about Gavin's bike and Sandlot movie that he had to give them to him as soon as we woke up.  This probably wasn't a bad idea though because he got a lot more enjoyment out of the bike since it was the only gift he was opening.  If we had waited until Christmas the bike wouldn't have been as exciting since so many other gifts would have been around!  He enjoyed helping daddy put it together and then played with it in the house while we watched The Sandlot.  After the movie we all bundled up and headed outside for bike riding lessons.  We got out Pop's bike so Jason could show him how its done.  We all had a fun taking turns helping Gavin.  He'll have pedaling down before we know it.  Right now he tries to pedal backwards which makes the bike stop.  We just have to get the going forward part and steering figured out!

Toys R Us Thanksgiving Sales

Thursday evening Toys R Us opened at 10pm to start the Black Friday sales early.  Jason and I decided to go fight the crowds and get our Christmas shopping for Gavin done.  We arrived at about 9:45pm and the line was wrapped all around the building and then some.  We went ahead to Walmart to kill time while the line went down.  We did find The Sandlot movie on sale at Walmart and picked that up for Gavin.  We then went back to Toys R Us and had to park across the street.  We got in line and made a deal that if we hadn't moved to a certain point in 30 minutes that we were calling it quits.  Thankfully the line went quickly and we were inside in under 40 minutes.  Thats when the shopping madness began!  We made the mistake of shopping together through the whole store and THEN noticing how long the line was.  If we ever do Black Friday shopping again, we now know that one of us should instantly get in line while the other shops.  We found everything we came for at great deals, but did have to stand in the inside line another hour to make our purchases.  It was an experience and worth it for the $94 we saved.  We got home around 1am and crashed!  Thankfully we were given the chance to sleep in until 9am since Gammy and Pop got up with Gavin.   Here are the gifts we picked up for Gavin for Christmas.  He gets so many "toys" that we wanted to keep our gifts somewhat educational and I'd say we succeeded!
