Low Country Boil @ The McGee's

Last night was a great night at the McGee's. Their packers come tomorrow so they wanted to clear out their freezer before they move. This led to us being invited over for a feast!!! We love a good low country boil! Melissa also made this taco dip that was to die for! Since it was so hot outside they had the baby pool and slip 'n slide set up! The boys LOVED it... well, Gavin really hated the slip 'n slide but everyone else enjoyed it. After we all had dinner and put the boys back in dry clothes the daddies offered to take ALL the kids to the neighborhood park!!! What a treat! Melissa, Dani, and I sat around talking and then eventually met them at the park. The boys were DIRTY and TIRED by the time we got there so we soon went back to the house and all packed up to go home. The McGee's gave us Mackenzie's old Fisher Price picnic table. I'm so excited to get that set up in the backyard and let Gavin have occasional lunches out there! It'll also be great for art projects! Thanks!

...and heres why Gavin didn't enjoy the Slip 'n' Slide!
(sliding by force of daddy = no good!)
Though he did look pretty cute sliding down!

Gavin was in love with his first Capri Sun ever!
(Our new picnic table!)

And one from the park... we couldn't get over his calf muscles!
Jason and I talked on the way home about how we can't wait to live on post again. There's just something so secure about living on post, having all your neighbors going through the same things you are, etc. Then we talked about how this will be Gavin's first friend that is moving away. I'm sure for weeks he'll be asking for "Colton-man", "Kenzie", and "Lissa". Good thing they are going to DC and we know we'll be seeing them again!

Cookout @ the Kelvington's

Tonight we were invited to a big cookout at the Kelvington's in Pooler... it was a great day for a cookout! We spent the evening in the backyard. The Cannon's brought over Mason's Jeep which provided hours of entertainment. Watermelon was a huge hit for the kids. Beer and Corn Hole provided the adult entertainment!

uh oh, time for a battery recharge
OR - maybe its that Austin, Mason, and Gavin are all trying to ride and exceed the weight limit!!!
Yeah, watermelon = #1
Solo attempt at the jeep
Ben and Jas - not really sure they knew what they were doing, but they made up their own rules!

SPOILED

Tonight was our May coffee - it was hosted by Becky Lucus and Jessica Dobbins, who did fabulous! It was at Becky's house (a bonus because she's right around the corner!!!) and they went all out. Appetizers & wine for starters, then out came the salad, homemade LASAGNA, and garlic bread! Whoa! Oh yeah, followed by two homemade desserts. They truly went above and beyond. Yes, we were all spoiled at the coffee. We played a few icebreakers and then it was time for the welcomes and farewells. Dani and I were asked to speak on behalf of Melissa. We convinced ourselves we could do it cheerfully, but I failed at the mission and the ugly cry voice came out. Uh, embarrassing! Oh well, I peeked over and Melissa had a few tears too and I knew she had to talk next, so I was secretly hoping she'd have an uglier cry voice then me. Nope, turns out mine won the ugliest. Oh well, it was an honor to stand up in front of the ladies and talk about what a great person Melissa was both professionally as the B Co FRG leader and personally as a friend. I did good until it got to talking about us surviving our second deployment together... Gonna miss her for round #3, for sure. Again, I've been spoiled to have Melissa as a friend. Unfortunately I have no pictures from the coffee. One of these days I'll remember to bring my camera! When I got home I was greeted at the door by a very excited husband and son. Apparently they had been shopping while I was out and had a special gift for me! Gavin kept saying "Present mama, present mama, open it!" I LOVED when I was handed a box in Santa wrapping paper!!! It made the gift all the more memorable that it was wrapped in Christmas paper. I ripped that paper off and was squealing like a little girl on Christmas morning (so maybe the wrapping paper was appropriate, after all). They had very generously purchased a new lens for my camera. A ZOOM LENS! Let me tell you, this lens is POWERFUL! I'm not a big gift person, but I was ECSTATIC. So, for the 3rd time tonight, I was spoiled. I am so blessed!

This photo was taken with the new lens, from all the way across the house! I told you it was powerful... 70-300mm, baby!!!!
