Yesterday it FINALLY felt like Fall here in Savannah! Gavin and I had breakfast and then made our way to Tom Triplett Park in Pooler. We did the swings, slides, and everything in between! I was able to load him in the jogger for a 3 mile walk and then it was time to feed the ducks! A happy, cool morning for sure!

27 Weeks
I got my 27 Week e-mail from Baby Center and couldn't believe all the progress Miss Stella has already made! She should be just over 2 pounds now and around 15 inches long. Her eyelids should now be able to open and close. Stella has regular sleep and wake cycles now, which can definitely be felt by her movements! She still has immature lungs, but it was such a relief to read that at this point her lungs are capable of functioning with intense medical help if she was to be born now.
The downside to this time of pregnancy is that I will soon begin having the symptoms of the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Swelling, leg cramps, and a lack of energy are just a few things that will soon be a regular part of life until she's born! The third trimester with Gavin brought some frustrating asthma symptoms for me and even a trip to the ER, but I hope that since I've continued regular exercise and am on some different medications this time that my asthma will be better controlled. Only time will tell! This is also about the time I started seriously packing on weight with Gavin, so I'm of course nervous about that. I had a lot of water retention and swelling with him, I hope it isn't as bad with Stella!
One thing I'm having trouble with right now is that I want to be able to "prepare" for Stella.. I want to set up her nursery, get her things washed and put away, etc. BUT - we found out we'll be moving to Ft. Benning sometime in February. With Stella only being weeks old at that time, we can't justify setting her up a full nursery in this house. We're going to keep our guest room as it is, and just put her dresser/changing table combo in our master bedroom and just keep her in the pack 'n play to sleep until we move. I'm not sure how I'm going to "nest" in the last weeks of pregnancy without having her own room, but I'll make due! I'm just thankful we have the space in our master to set up her dresser and a pack n play. It'll be a little bit of a squeeze, but it works. I'll be so excited to get to Benning and have each of our kids their own bedroom set up, but I will certainly miss this house!

Joe and Cara Visit
We were so excited to have my brother, Joe, and his wife, Cara, come visit us this weekend. They married in September and did their first PCS move to Ft. Benning, GA less then a week later. Joe quickly began his Infantry Officer Course which means LOTS of time in the field. Cara is quickly getting a welcome into the life of a military wife! I'm so thrilled that she's a part of the "wives group" already and is doing so much to support Joe and the guys in his platoon. Those boys don't realize how good they have it - she makes them fresh baked goods and brings hot coffee to greet them with after they come out of the field and have to spend hours cleaning weapons, etc! We were spoiled with some of her cooking on Saturday. They arrived and had a Pumpkin Spice Roll in hand! Jason couldn't wait to get his hands on that. They also brought Stella the cutest little newborn outfit and booties! Thanks so much Joe and Cara! We're thrilled ya'll are settling nicely in your home in Ft. Benning - can't wait to be almost neighbors when we move in February.
Now, onto the weekend... we knew they wouldn't be arriving until late morning, so Jason and I got up and did some much needed projects around the house before they arrived. I can't brag enough on how amazing my husband is. A picture below will explain exactly what I mean! I have the desire to do some specific nesting, but having an ever growing baby inside my body doesn't allow me to do the needed bending, lifting, furniture moving, etc that is required. Jason offered to deep clean our kitchen floor out of the kindness of his heart. I'm sure there were a million other things that he wouldn't have preferred to spend his morning doing, but he spent it on his hands and knees scrubbing our floors. They look amazing! We have learned with our purchase of this house that we never again desire to have an "all white" kitchen - too much dirt shows!!! While he tackled that project I picked up things around the house, vacuumed and cleaned the wood floors. We got showered just in time for their arrival!
We had made reservations at Paula Deen's for 1:45pm so we headed downtown to do that. (Cara is a Paula Deen fanatic!) Cara and Gavin got the buffet, Joe had the crab cakes, I got the chicken pot pie, and Jason had a pulled pork sandwich. We were stuffed! We then walked them through City Market and down River Street to do all the "traditional stops" for people first visiting Savannah. We spent a good amount of time upstairs in Kevin Barry's looking at all the Ranger stuff and also made a stop at Rocks on the Rooftop. Gavin loved looking down at all the big boats while we were up there. We finished up River Street then made our way back to Ellis Square where we hung out for a couple hours. Gavin loved roughing around with the boys and talking to anyone that would stop for a moment to carry on a conversation! That boy has never met a stranger! Jason and I made our way home around 7pm and Joe and Cara stayed to do one of the Haunted Tours that started at 8pm. We ordered a pizza on the drive home and got there just in time for the start of the Ohio State Football game. It was a devistation to Jason when we couldn't find it on tv! We had to pull it up on the computer to watch. Our friends, Andrew and Elizabeth, stopped by to show us their hilarious costumes of the evening! They were "Dog and Beth" from tv - a riot! We put Gavin to bed and crashed early ourselves. I had to snap a picture of Jason asleep with the computer on his chest!
Sunday we made our way out to Tybee for a couple hours to do a little fishing. The fish weren't biting, but we did get to see the shrimp boats, dolphins, and lots of jellyfish. We didn't stay long, and stopped at Fiddlers to eat on the way home. Joe wanted raw oysters, which were actually hard to find! We called several places on Tybee but they all told us they didn't have any so we had to go to River Street to find them. None of us were too impressed with our meals or the service, so that was a real bummer. We should have stuck with our normal River Street favorite - Tubby's!
Joe and Cara stopped by our house to pick up Hogan on the way home. We took Hogan from my parents in July of 2009 because they wanted to get rid of her, but we just couldn't imagine her going to someone outside of the family. Her and LT are from the same litter and have been a part of our families for too long! Joe always wanted Hogan, but never had the means to be able to really take her until recently. So, he was thrilled when we offered her to them! Hogan was a great dog, it was just too hard for me to handle two dogs and Gavin all alone with Jason always being gone. They never got the attention they deserved, rarely ever went on walks, etc. It just wasn't fair to them both. So, we're now down to one dog again and Joe is happy to have Hogan! LT has been excited to have his one on one attention back and to get lots of time playing ball outside.
Here are a ton of pictures from the weekend:

Family Friday
Next we made a stop at Babies R Us to pick up Stella's dresser! I'd tried to order it online, but they wanted $187 for shipping (couldn't even fathom paying that) so I went to the store and ordered it "Site to Store" for free and was also able to use a 20% off coupon on top of the sale it was already on. I was so excited when I got inside Friday and saw that it came assembled! Thank goodness Jason was outside with the truck waiting so we had enough room to load it! We decided to pay the $32 for an extended 2 year warranty since we'll probably be moving twice over the next two years and thats gives lots of opportunity for scratches, breaks, etc!
Gavin snoozed on our 20 minute drive back to the house. We got home in time to get changed and head out the door to the Oatland Island Wildlife Center. They were having a Halloween Hike from 5-8pm and we decided to use that as our big "halloween event" of the weekend. We aren't a big halloween celebrating family, but events like this are family friendly and right up our alley! Gavin dressed as a baseball player, not that that should surprise anyone! We also met the Mangum's there - Friday was Max's 2nd birthday!! Jason pulled the boys through the hike in Gavin's wagon. They loved the alligators, but weren't a fan of the dress up characters throughout the hike. They preferred the REAL animals, not the dress up ones! At the end of the hike we were in the farm area and "Mother Goose" told a few rhymes and sang songs. Gavin and Max loved this part! We ended with looking at the real farm animals and then doing a dinosaur fossil dig inside. They had a hay ride to take us back to the cars, but it was such a long wait that we decided to just walk!
We came home after and Jason made breakfast for dinner - yummy! Gotta love a great Friday filled with lots of family time.

Soccer Practice
We're 4 weeks into Gavin's soccer session and I think I've yet to blog about it! He absolutely loves it, though some weeks I think he spends more time playing in the parking lot then on the actual field. He's also learned the meaning of a "water break" and has become a big fan of those. Coach Matt leads the practices and is fantastic with the kids. By the end of the first practice he knew all the kids by their names. Impressive! He's great at encouraging the children and giving out lots of praise and high fives. The 45 minutes consists of a few drills, lots of games, and time to practice shooting the ball in the goal. Gavin's favorite game is one called "Ouch" - the coach throws the ball out in the field and the kids run out to get it, dribble it back, then kick it to the coach. When it hits his feet, he yells "Ouch" like he's in pain. Sounds funny, but the kids love it and it teaches all about getting the ball, dribbling it, and passing. Gavin is covered in sweat and grass by the end of each practice. Here are some pictures of our latest practice:
