Ranger Memorial

This morning Gavin and I slept in until almost 9am - what a treat! Gavin enjoyed breakfast and I got us ready for a run - it was chilly outside so Gavin required a hat, sweatshirt, and blanket! I pulled out my running tights from high school to wear. It was so cold! (Well, for Savannah!) We did 3 miles and then got ready for a Thanksgiving lunch on post at the Ranger DFAC. What a lunch it was! It's wasn't my moms home cooking, but it was better then I could have done at home. :) We also called Papaw today - it's his 50th birthday! Happy Birthday, David/Papaw! Sorry Gavin wasn't much in a talking mood when we called. After lunch, we went to the Ranger Memorial. I love to go there every few months. It's a beautiful place and I feel like we are among hero's/angels when we're out there. Neelee and Max joined us. It was so sweet to watch the boys play and be so full of life in a place that was created to memorialize our fallen. Below are several pictures from our time at the memorial today. We rushed home after to get changed and head to Kickboxing at the Y. They came and got me after class, as Gavin had pooped through his outfit! I had to wrap him in my sweatshirt to get him to the car! Poor little boy! Though I was saying praises in my head that I was not the one that had to change that diaper! Sorry to the child care workers, but thanks for doing that for me! Gavin is sleeping peacefully now and I'm about to e-mail Jas then head that way myself. Goodnight!
All bundled up for our run. We borrowed a friends jogger, as something is wrong with one of the tires on mine. He enjoyed the new fancy jogger! On Thanksgiving we're running a 10k so I was glad we got to practice this on before running the real race.
Happy Thanksgiving from Gavin and I
Silly boy

"Vroom..."

Max looking at his mama
He's looking just like his daddy!
Being silly in their hats... a guy in S5 gave them to the boys today :)
Sad to know that we will be adding 3 names to this memorial when the guys return home...

Birds flew over. He's very into birds and airplanes right now.
A few for Jas :)
I was laughing, telling Neelee I forgot how to take a picture by myself! Once you become a mom there are no more "self portraits" - they all involve the children!

Cornhole

"What goes in here?"
Gavin attempted to learn a new game this weekend, but opted to just play with "Chance" instead! Ball is much funner then Cornhole, according to Little Buddy!
Thanks to Meg for having us over for a little Buckeye fun on Saturday!

Soccer

Found a great soccer field while on our long run this week... With weather in the mid 70's today, we decided to go and had a great time. Gavin was worn out by the time we headed home. We'll be heading back soon to play again. Gavin has skills! At first he wanted to carry the ball everywhere, but eventually learned how to kick it around. Enjoy the video at the end!

Hard to believe he's only 14 months old with all those skills!

175 Miles Finished

Each deployment the wives are encouraged to walk/run 175 miles while our husbands are away. We are awarded with t-shirts at the end of the deployment if we complete the challenge. I attempted to do this last deployment, but never finished my miles. I'm happy to say that I finished the mileage today! So excited to see how many more miles I can add to the list before my wonderful husband returns back home.
Gavin and I goofing off before the gym this afternoon. Yep - I did say the gym! We did our 48 hours at home and have no signs of H1N1 so we are released from house arrest!
Gavin has become mildly obsessed with his bottle since I stopped nursing him a month ago. I'm working hard to transition him to a sippy cup during the day and he did great today. The morning is the toughest time, when he first wakes up all he wants is the bottle.

House Arrest, Day 2

We broke out of the house today for some fresh air - and ended up running 10.2 miles! That wasn't the plan, but I felt good, weather was great, and Gavin enjoyed talking about the trees, birds, etc.... that is until he fell asleep! My music kept me going and I finished feeling even better then when I completed the Army 10 miler last month. I'm hoping to complete two 10k's in the upcoming weeks. One is sponsored by FCA on Thanksgiving morning, and another is the Savannah Bridge Run on Dec. 5th.

When we got home there were a couple packages waiting for us! One was an early Christmas present from Nana and Papaw - a soft, cozy chair for Gavin to watch his Elmo in! He loves it! He tested it out before bed (with his Elmo shirt). He's not an Elmo fan or anything, ya think?! He's an even bigger fan of football and basketball, so its awesome his elmo shirt actually has ALL his favorites involved. (It's another hand my down from Reagan.)
Snack time
I just love how he reads most of his books... upside down!
Another package was from Gammy and Pop! They sent a ton of things we left when we visited last month. Gavin was excited to be reunited with his Melissa and Doug Bead Maze.
Another upside down book :)

House arrest

Gavin and I were exposed to H1N1 yesterday so at the advice of Gavin's pediatrician we are laying low for 48 hours... staying away from all children and monitoring for any signs of illness. So far so good! She also put him on a low dose of Tamiflu as precaution. With Gavin's asthma as bad as it is, we're in trouble if he gets this. I'm so thankful he's on Singulair and Pulmicort, as it seems to be controlling his attacks through flu season so far. He has had his regular flu vaccine, but not the H1N1 vaccine. Hope to find the shot available somewhere soon, as he can't take the mist. Here are some pics of us at home the last 24 hours. :) Love any excuse to lay low with my LB, though I really missed the gym and time with my girlfriends today! Last night he fell asleep on me in the middle of our prayer and song!
Snuggling in bed this morning... my plan was to relax and watch PBS together... Gavins was to tickle and tackle one another!
We did a P90X video since we didn't make the gym. I say "we" - he did participate a little! Mostly he just stole my weights though. He looks like he's giving a "mean mug" face, but he's just chewing on his snack!
Look, no hands!
Really he sits on my lap for a treatment, but when we're finished I let him play with it. He likes to pretend with no hands, or pretend to give me or his rocking horse a treatment. Glad it's not total torture for him to have asthma; he tries to keep it entertaining!

Prayers that tomorrow is our last day on house arrest and Gavin remains symptom free! Also, prayers for little 4 month old Mia, who DOES have H1N1 and is on a much longer house arrest. :(
